Interesting time in the Equipment Business
As we travel around visiting dealers and manufacturers we are often asked how everyone else is doing. The answers are not easy this year and they are different than we’ve seen since we started in 1976. Most of the dealers tell us that there is no pattern to the traffic in their dealership. One day the are swapped and the next day they are dead. Many dealers are going great guns and having record numbers , but their are just as many saying that business is very soft. Those that are doing good always find a piece of wood to knock on in hopes that the business continues to do good. Fortunately we are also in that category and we continue to find some wood to knock on each day.
As independent Manufacturers Reps we have become attractive to many manufacturers as a way to bring their product to market. With the high cost of everything we (independent Manufactures Representative) have become the best alternative to maintaining and managing their own staff. On average we receive 2 to 4 inquires every week from companies that would like us to represent their product. Most don’t fit our profile of calling on Ag, Municipal and Industrial dealers in the Northeast ,but is always interesting to see the many opportunities that are out there. DH

Ag Progress Days

Today is the day that we begin set up for the Ag Progress Day show in State college,PA. I visited the site last night and a few tent were already up. By tonight it will look like a tent city and the field will be full of equipment. We will be showing a full line of Land Pride, AerWay, Haybuster, DuraTech, Tiger Power and AgCam. We will also be displaying a number of Land Pride attachments in the Kubota booth. I haven’t added up the cos of equipment yet, but I’ll let you know a little later in the week.
